We are an unlicensed premises but you are welcome to bring your own beverages

 

We can provide dinner by arrangement for our residents on Fridays and Saturdays.    The dinner consists of:

West country cheeseboard (£3.50 supplement per person)
coffee

As our dishes are all home-made, with fresh local ingredients, please give us at least two days notice if you require dinner.    

Please note that we prepare the same meal (starter, main course, dessert) for the whole family or group.

Soups

Our soups are made from fresh vegetables and herbs and a home-made chicken stock (except in the case of vegetarian dishes).

Fish pie with seasonal white fish, salmon & shellfish

Brixham skate in a light cream sauce

Gurnard fillets with crab, served with couscous

Meat

We use only high quality meat bred traditionally on Dartmoor and free range.  All are served with fresh vegetables (local wherever possible) or green salad where appropriate.

 

Grilled medallions of  pork with red onions & sautée potatoes

Pot-roasted leg of lamb with Mediterranean vegetables

Aubergine with a spicy stuffing of burghul wheat, minced beef & pine nuts 

Steak & ale pie

Roasted pheasant breasts with fresh stuffing rolled with bacon.   Served with home-made chilli jelly.

 

Roast rib of beef with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding & horseradish sauce

Chicken tagine - a highly spiced North African casserole with vegetables, apricots, almonds and honey.   Can be served with couscous.

Spanish rice with chicken, chorizo sausages, chick peas and red peppers.   Served with green salad.

 

Vegetarian dishes

These dishes are served with hot crusty bread and the usual vegetable or salad accompaniment.  You may also order rice or roast potatoes. 

Parsnip crumble in a tomato and cream sauce, topped with gruyère cheese

Vegetable strudel of filo pastry with feta cheese, aubergine and pine nuts

Savoury pancakes filled with ricotta, spinach & walnuts topped with gruyere

Lasagne with sliced aubergines and red peppers, with a creamy cheese filling

Aubergines, courgettes, red peppers & vine-ripened tomatoes, oven-roasted in olive oil & garlic on a flaky pastry base.

Vegetable paella baked with chick peas, a variety of beans, potatoes and peppers

Ricotta fritters with roasted peppers

Tagliatelle in a wild mushroom and tarragon cream sauce

 

 

 

 

DESSERTS

These home-made desserts can be served with whipped or clotted cream, custard or a crème patissière.   If you have a preference please order.

This is an optional extra and an additional charge of £3.50 per person is made.

 

The dinner is completed with freshly made coffee and a chocolate, which can be taken in a comfortable chair by the fireside in the lounge.
